SafeConnect™

The coupling and uncoupling of tractor and trailer units is carried out by commercial vehicle drivers hundreds of times a year. Yet this seemingly innocuous task, is fraught with danger and responsible for a huge number of accidents.

“It doesn’t matter how experienced a driver you are, roll-away accidents can happen to anyone and they can be hugely dangerous when they do. SafeConnect offers us the reassurance that in the event of inadvertent release of the trailer brakes our drivers are still safe – I’d implore anyone to fit SafeConnect.”

Neil Walker, Director, Robert Walker Haulage

SafeConnect™ represents a benchmark in trailer coupling.

SafeConnect™ ensures a trailers braking system fitted to any trailer is permanently applied throughout the coupling process and the driver remains in the cab area of the vehicle  protecting the driver until they return to the vehicle cab remaining in full control of the vehicle.

How SafeConnect Works™

TTCCSAFECONNECT_BROCHURE-2-300x166SafeConnect™ is a pneumatic valve positioned under a trailer close to the fifth wheel coupling that works by blocking airflow to the trailer via the emergency line, ensuring the tractor & trailer cannot inadvertently move whilst the driver is away from the cab. Only once the driver has depressed the foot brake from inside the cab will air be released down the redline, thus ensuring the driver is safe and out of harm’s way.

This NEW ground-breaking solution ensures that a trailers braking system is permanently applied throughout the coupling process. Only once the driver has depressed the vehicle brake pedal will air be released down the redline and in doing so return the trailers braking to normal functionality. A pneumatic valve mounted underneath the trailer at a point close to the fifth wheel, SafeConnect blocks airflow to the trailer via the emergency line, ensuring tractor & trailer cannot inadvertently move whilst the driver is away from the cab. Only once the driver has depressed the vehicle brake pedal, will air be released down the redline and in doing so return normal braking functionality.

There are no additional procedures for the driver to remember or action, they simply continue about their usual coupling procedure.
