What makes vMap unique?
Although you may have the same make and model as someone in Australia, Chile or Alaska the performances of the vehicles will be totally different. Why? Because different drivers, different routes different climate, altitudes all of which will affect the performance of the vehicles.
All modern vehicles use sophisticated electronic control units (ECU) to manage every aspect of the operation of the vehicle. The ECU controlling the combustion process does so, by constantly evaluating data from various sensors, and continually tries to optimise the engine’s efficiency under any given set of conditions—heavy load, driver style, hot or cold engine condition and most importantly, ambient air temperature, altitude and fuel quality.
How does vMap work?
The ECU is used to control a variety of vehicle characteristics, including throttle, engine rpm, torque and speed, which in turn determines power output, mpg and CO2 emissions.
Using driver, vehicle and application specific software pioneered by a team of leading specialist automotive engineers we are able to identify scope for adjustments that deliver efficiencies by the careful re-programming of the vehicle’s electronic control unit (ECU), to perform at optimum efficiency for UK fuel standards, climate, altitudes and engine conditions.
All software is produced and fine-tuned on our own rolling road, (dynamometer,) using the EU approved, “drive cycle test,” to fully validate our results. This allows us to bespoke our software, if required, to meet any of our customer’s specific and varied requirements, then fully test and validate the new software before deploying.

MAINSTREAM RE-MAPPING VS vMAP
1. TORQUE FILES LEFT UNCHANGED
We do not increase or boost the torque files on the vehicle. We target the diagnostic side. We look to alter the throttle response and RPM on tick over/idle to deliver results which is also inherently safer for the vehicle.
2. THROTTLE RESPONSE
Mainstream re-mapping looks to alter fundamental settings on the vehicle. We target throttle response on the vehicle for greater gain without overlooking the emission implications (CO2 & NOx) which in certain mainstream re-mapping solutions often arise.
3. FIVE MINS VS TWO HOURS
Our unique deployment method means that files can be deployed between 5 minutes per vehicle unlike the labour intensive demands of remapping which is often 1-2 hours downtime per vehicle. Our patent protected method lends itself perfectly to self-deployment which gives the client greater control.

DEPLOYMENT & SAFETY
HOW DO YOU DEPLOY?
We have recently developed a plug-in device which links directly to the OBDII diagnostic port. Once the programme is loaded, the device is removed, it’s perfect for companies that either don’t have repair workshops or need to be time critical to minimise disruption to the working day. This would allow most vehicles to have the ECU programmed for improved fuel efficiency in around 10 minutes for an LCV.

STEP 2 – BENCHMARKING
Using existing or our own telematics we benchmark vehicle and fleet fuel usage against which any improvements will be benchmarked to gauge the level of improvements. Working with the client we prepare an expectations document that underpins the trial against which all results will be benchmarked.
STEP 3 – SCOPING & PROFILING
The next stage is to gather fuel usage profile information to pinpoint the key areas. We then pass a copy of this software to our secure central servers where it is examined and scrutinised to identify improvements. Please note that we always take a copy of the standard software on the vehicle, so that we can deploy it again should the customer need to do so prior to disposal.
STEP 4 – INSTALLATION
Our version of this original software, along with any bespoke alterations identified and agreed with the customer is then uploaded back to the vehicle ECU. Once the pilot vehicles have been determined our engineers will travel to site anywhere in the UK and begin the process of installation. A test drive is then undertaken to ensure the customer is completely happy with the vehicle before deployment. All of this is achieved without ever exceeding any of the safe tolerances of the engine; therefore no adverse effect on its life will be seen.
STEP 5 – EVALUATION
Once the duration of the pilot has been determined we can then begin to analyse the data and the impact of the alterations to see the level of improvements achieved.
STEP 6 – REVIEW & REPORT
At the outset we would agree the length of trial and agree a date at which we can then review the results and the overall impact of the trial. We prepare a detailed report outlining the results, findings complete with recommendations and an indication of the level of financial savings that the client can expect.
